Recep Erdogen's Government, yet another 20th Century.....?

The former head of the Turkish Armed Forces, Gen. Ilker Basburg has since the 5th January 2012 been put in jail without a charge laid at his door and joins nearly 300 other military officers who have remained in jail for years, without a single conviction to date, on conspiracy to overthrow the AKP, the Justice and Development Party.

The Turkish Journalist Union reports that in the region of 100 journalists have now been arrested and are in prison, few of whom have been convicted of anything.

The Turkish Human Rights Association has revealed that of the 128,000 people currently imprisoned in Turkey only 48% have been convicted of any crime.

And this is a Nato member country!

What does such a government stand for?
